Gunvor becomes Centalion and plans a Singapore redomicile

Gunvor adopts the Centalion name while its intended Singapore redomicile remains subject to regulatory approvals and documentation.

Commodities trader Gunvor announced its change of name to Centalion and an intended redomicile from Cyprus to Singapore. Interfax reported the company's announcement on 2 October. The new name applies from the announcement date, while the brand's rollout across subsidiaries and offices is expected to take several months.

The name changes while the redomicile remains intended

The company's official statement distinguishes the two processes. The employee partnership that owns the business voted for the new name. Completion of the proposed redomicile remains subject to applicable local approvals and documentation. The brand announcement therefore does not establish that the redomicile has already been completed.

The company connects the new stage with the management buyout completed in December 2025. It says the intended redomicile concerns the existing legal entity rather than the creation of a new structure. It also states that the name change leaves its rights, obligations and existing arrangements with counterparties intact. These descriptions convey the company's position regarding its announced processes.

Trading offices and the brand transition

The company has maintained a Singapore presence since 2006. It identifies the jurisdiction's business and legal environment, financial infrastructure and trading infrastructure as reasons for its intended move. Its main trading offices are expected to remain in Geneva and Houston alongside Singapore. Chairman and chief executive Gary Pedersen is based in Houston.

The trading business covers physical energy commodities, metals and minerals, together with related logistics. The identity announcement does not establish a separate volume of future sales or a confirmed completion date for the redomicile. Assessing subsequent changes requires keeping the use of the name, the rollout of the identity and completion of the legal process distinct. A date attached to the first step should not be transferred to the other two steps without additional information.
