Vertiv is adding manufacturing space in Pelzer, South Carolina. Manufacturing Dive reported on October 2, 2024 that the new facility covers 215,000 square feet, following the company’s September 24 announcement. The project concerns equipment production rather than an operating data centre.
Products and employment plans
In its own announcement, Vertiv identifies integrated modular infrastructure and modular power systems as planned products and projects up to 300 additional skilled jobs. The company also describes factory testing of the integrated systems. The job figure is an expectation, not a verified count of filled positions.
Reading the manufacturing footprint
Floor space describes the physical extent of a facility. It does not, by itself, specify annual unit output, utilisation or revenue. Those measures need separate production and financial evidence. The distinction is important when reading an expansion announcement: a larger footprint can accommodate activity without demonstrating how quickly that activity will reach its intended level.
The same caution applies to employment. A projected workforce and an actual hiring result belong to different stages of a project. Recruitment, training and deployment can occur over time. No completed employment total is inferred here from the announced expectation.

- Factory testing and customer-site acceptance are distinct stages.
From production to customer deployment
As general delivery context, testing before dispatch does not mean that every requirement at the destination has already been met. Receiving a system, preparing its location, arranging connections and agreeing acceptance criteria are separate activities. This is not a description of a particular customer contract or a technical installation procedure.
The announcement therefore should not be converted into a guaranteed commissioning date or a quantified saving for a buyer. Such a conclusion would require the relevant project specification and delivery terms. Keeping that boundary clear allows the manufacturing expansion to be described without inventing a customer outcome or a commercial forecast.
