PhosAgro-Region reported higher domestic fertiliser deliveries alongside an expansion of the services available to farmers. The group’s update of 21 February 2024, also covered by Interfax, described developments in its distribution network during 2023 rather than new production capacity or a financial earnings result.
Distribution volumes and infrastructure
Domestic deliveries reached 3.3 million tonnes, a 12% increase. Liquid fertiliser shipments grew by 27%. Over the preceding five years, the number of distribution centres rose from 19 to 34, with more than RUB 4 billion invested in the network. These figures describe different aspects of the operation: annual product movement, the physical network and cumulative investment.
- Deliveries measure the quantity supplied during the reporting year.
- Distribution centres provide infrastructure for serving customers.
- Investment is a funding measure, not another volume of fertiliser.
The distinction matters because a larger network cannot be read directly as an equivalent increase in output. Distribution links products with customers; manufacturing and the subsequent sale of a product remain separate activities. Nor does a rise in shipment weight, by itself, establish the change in sales revenue.
Soil testing joins the customer offer
The company’s own announcement also described its agronomic work. Regional teams tested approximately 50,000 hectares of soil across 20 regions during 2023. For 2024, the company planned a 40% increase in the area examined. That target was an intention at the time of publication, not a completed result.
In Krasnodar Krai, a regional office was converted into a customer centre combining fertiliser products, logistics and agronomic services. Soil testing and crop-nutrition advice make the service offer distinct from a simple delivery transaction. They can help frame the choice of inputs, but the announcement does not establish a guaranteed crop-yield improvement or financial return for individual farms.
This corporate update therefore brings together a reported shipment result and a programme of customer services. It does not make the area tested interchangeable with the area fertilised, and it does not show how much of the increase in deliveries was caused by a particular service. Those questions require separate operating evidence.
