Luzar has opened a new automotive-radiator production line in Saint Petersburg, extending its manufacturing programme towards vehicles with larger engines. Interfax reported the launch on 21 June 2024. The project combines a completed opening with a multi-year production target; the future target should not be read as output already achieved.
A separate workshop for a different product range
Carville, the holding behind the operation, put investment in the expansion at RUB 400 million. The new workshop was intended to reach 300,000 finished radiators a year by 2027. Its intended customer groups included truck manufacturers, tractor producers and makers of specialised equipment, with scope for individual orders.
The plant’s existing capacity was 600,000 items annually, mainly serving passenger vehicles. Adding the new workshop’s planned volume would bring the combined figure to 900,000. That arithmetic explains the announced expansion path, but it is not evidence that the additional units had already been manufactured or sold.
- The production-line opening was the event reported in June 2024.
- RUB 400 million was the stated investment in expansion.
- The new workshop’s 300,000-unit annual target referred to 2027.
- The company’s 2024 production plan remained around 600,000 units, with a range of 50,000 either side.
Original equipment and replacement demand
The business supplied both vehicle manufacturers and the replacement-parts market. Those are distinct routes to customers: one serves vehicles being assembled, while the other serves vehicles already in use. The announcement did not break down how the new workshop’s planned output would be divided between them.
Moving towards larger-engine applications also changes the product mix. A count of finished radiators does not, on its own, describe their dimensions, selling prices or the resources needed to manufacture each variant. For that reason, an increase in unit capacity cannot automatically be treated as an identical percentage increase in revenue or earnings.
The next milestone is the production ramp
The launch establishes the availability of a new production line. Reaching the stated annual target is a subsequent operating task, and a target remains distinct from a confirmed order book. Evidence of actual output and shipments would be needed to assess the ramp towards 2027. The June announcement does not supply that later evidence.
